You're not wrong.
Yes I know just ask kathrin(sp) she had some of my best all round effort the other night   ....... She told me it was nice to have something to get hold of for a change.

She also liked the fact she was in bed with someone that didn't look like a: SWANVESTER MATCH. think about it     .

 I thought that the reason turbo charged cars didnt run larger plug gaps is because they suffer from spark blowout due to the cylinder pressures  I also thought that a stronger spark with a larger plug gap wasnt to good either as its prone to arking out on other componets due to the spark blowout causing similar symptoms to detting  I'm sure i'll be corrected if i'm wrong

Rob you haven't seen your k**b for 20 years, never mind any female. As for you're best all round effort, did a punter drop some viagra in the back of your cab and you are shouting out to the world that you can finally get it up  ?

A JCB would struggle matey  .

Only bed you fit in is the town hall flower beds. You might be built for comfort(you'd make a nice sofa)but I'm built for stamina  .

Ahhhhh I've missed these little exchanges :D .

is this right?

That's the piont of an msd coil a stronger spark shouldn't get blown out even if you open the gap up a bit.

From what i read on the sr20 forum they where saying that they got more miles to a gallon and smoother running off boost.

Yeah my gas mileage is waaay better i could see the a/f ratios werent stable before even at idle jumping around between 14.3-15afr now it pretty much sits dead on 14.7a/f at idle all the time. This also applies when cruising on the highway im expecting much better mileage.

somepeople on sr20forum have run upto about .9mm with an msd ignition and have also reported better fuel economy. I think ill stick with .8 though. good enough.

i wrote MSD to have infos on the blaster ss coil for the gti-r
here is theyr reply:

For your application, I would recommend using our MSD SCI ignition controller part number 6300 along with our Blaster SS coil part number 8207. You will also need to purchase a tach adapter part number 8910. The adapter is used to clear up the signal to your factory ECU. It would be cheaper if you get pricing and availability through an MSD Dealer. Our prices are 30 to 40% higher because we are contracted not to undersell our dealers. You can obtain a list of dealers who can provide you with prices and availability off of our website at <www.msdignition.com> under AUTOMOTIVE DEALERS.

Thanks,
MSD Tech

They told me i needed a tach adaptor also. Mine is working fine without it. And many others on sr20forum also. I wouldnt worry about that piece. Its more so you tacho will actually work coz on some cars after you install a msd the tacho stops working but ours works fine so no problem.

8) how long' s it been like this?

cant see how opening the gap .1 of a mm will cause any problems :?

What are you asking? ( how long' s it been like this? i dont follow??

When you adjust your plug gaps in race cars your meant to go up in steps until you detect misfire/loss of power. Those steps are much smaller than .1mm so i think you'll find .1mm is actually a big difference in sparkplug terms.

But i must admit for me i would probably adjust it in .05-.1mm increments simply because im to lazy to be that anal about it. But thats not the recommended way to extend plug gaps.

Anyway mine works fine at .8mm and im happy with that. I cant be bothered stuffing around with it.

Anyone got any info on the wiring side of this? does the o.8 ohm resister go before the coil? and how close to the coil does it have to be?

Hear's what 00sid told me.

right i have fitted the coil and the car is running.

the wiring was abit tricky had to check the drawing and test the wires on the car.

the plus feed wire to the coil is the small green and yellow one this has to go to the new 0.8ohm resistor and then to the coil.

the ground switching wire is the larger black with red stripe wire ( this goes to the ecu ) and then to the coil.

hope this helps

hope this helps rob

hope that helps matey  i just mounted he resistor on the old coil mounting. little green and yellow wire goes via the resistor to the positive + mount and the black/red one goes straight to the negative - mounting.

dead easy, you' ll need a decent wire thickness for the earth wire if you extend it like i did and i used the supplied one for the positive feed. mines working fine :D opened my plug gap up to .85mm at .98bar and it runs very nice indeed. opened em up monday and iv caned 3/4 of a tank since then BOOTING it up 'n' down my private bit of strip  with no problems.

let us know how you get on? i reckon your gonna be a very happy puppy

Hi guys sorry for bringing this up again, but i missed it first time around

if buying an msd blaster ss coil, does the 0.8 ohm resistor required get wired in parallel or series and what is the wattage rating

thanks.. stu

alright mate, havent got a clue what the wattage rating is but i would just use the resistor that msd sell as a normal electrical resistor wont be upto the job, anyways its been along time since i can remember what the wiring type is called ( parallel or series ) but its wired inline on the plus side as in the plus wire goes to the resisitor first and then from the resistor to the coil.
