Sorted out the rats nest of wiring on my R from old sound system and alarm / immobiliser installs:

And got it running again with no engine light after cleaning up the ecu water temp sensor plug.

In the photo above of the crank cradle, I have attached the sump baffle. If you look just above it, there are 2 holes. Now as far as I'm aware , from what I can see in the workshop manual, nothing goes there. Plus I don't think I have anything else that'll fit. Am I right?
You need to move the baffle across to those holes and then attach the strainer onto the base of the oil pump, you will see what I mean once you've moved the baffle across

New tyres half gone in 60 miles, in the damp.... Needs brake pads also.........
Best 'result' you can hope for rallying...

39th out of 89, so mid field. There's no doubt everybody is getting relatively quicker (car development) and I am getting slower
as I'm 55+ now.
However, the car is great on the brakes, quite quick at the second half of the straights, handles reasonably and is good off the start line.
I'd like think it still a top 30 car.
Its home built, and pure clubman 'group A' spec, so not worth a kings ransom.

As it stands:

New main bearings/big ends/thrust bearings/shells
New Carillo pistons + rings
New ARP rod bolts
Block de-coked and honed
Crank polished and balanced to skimmed clutch fly.
New Nissan Timing chain kit
New Nissan oil pump
New Nissan water pump
Ported and polished head
Ported polished inlet manifold (both done by yours truly ;))
Refurbed strengthened standard gear box
prop shaft re-balanced

Block and said components for it are all fitted and it turns over nicely! Just waiting on some time off to get the Head and other bits together to get it back in the car.

O.k, so now the head is on and all timed up (easier than i thought until some shims shot out)

Cometic HG, new Nissan head bolts/timing chain kit.

Also got new competition clutch on and the gear box.
All that's left are the manifolds and turbo, no real big deal there.

So close now.

Which clutch model did you go for?

Starter motor out, rebuilt and back. My how I love having no tickover control gubbins meaning I can painlessly remove the inlet plenum. One of my best mods ever

Crickey! How did you get to that with the engine in situe?
I only ask as my engines out and nearly ready to go back in. I also refurbed my starter motor just in case, because i thought that'd be a bitch to get at once the engine is back in car.

Its actually quite easy once the plenum comes off. Replace the oil filter also at the same time.....
Would hate to do it with the tickover control plumbing in place though..
