Scoobys are great cars, most are better than the GTI-R but like others have said theyre common as dog Skoda and the people who drive them are self centred chavs.
and GTIR drivers are........?
Well rounded individuals with great taste, style and literacy. Well, I know I am.

great thread guys,

Thought i was just going to be a "my car is better than your car" thread.. and it nearly wasn't. Just sums up the club in a nutshell. The enamoured, the cynical, the nieve and people who just can't spell.. petrol heads each and every one of them.

gtiroc at its best.

i didn' t edit the bit i agreed with

parts can be cheaper

your price on the box was  large  there' s no difference as far as working on them other than familiarity. they dont have to be expensive to maintain, unless your modding mad then it can be but its no different for any make of car, high power tuning costs £££ and imo bang for buck wise the R wins hands down, everyone has different opinions on reliability according to experience. yours obviously wasn' t that good :(

a friend of mine has a whale tail 3 door and i really like it :D bought it roughly the same time as i got my R, garaged for 10yrs you can imagine what condition the body' s in 8) he paid £3000gbp more for his standard car than i did for mine. when it was at stage 3 it span the wheels up in 4th at 90
not content with that he' s converted it (himself) to awd, put a escort cossie tubby on it and had it remapped to 360bhp and 320 odd lbft iirc cant comment properly as iv not been out in it yet but....
now he' s got extra transmission losses he wont have such an advantage when rolling, pull away wise it' ll be closer.....but not close enough  top end the cossie does win but i dont care tbh. unless your on the strip ( 1/4 mile i win :D ) call me a girl but i wouldn' t race at 150+ anywhere public. or over 70 mph too of course! :D

he' s still got a fair bit to go to catch up with me power wise, im still at stage 1 tune   :D i'll be upping the boost again soon :D

there' s a guy that comes on here with a 4x4 wide arch fiesta, Dan iirc. now that is a 8) conversion and fucking fast, no idea how much he must have sunk into it though:lol:

I haven't posted on here in about 3 years!

During that time I've owned and still have an MY00 Impreza. At the time I had my heart set on anther GTIR (Phil Cavanaghs black Turini kitted one if anyone here remembers those days!)

However, the car was going to used every day, my daughter was only 1 and couldn't clamber into the back and I had already owned a GTIR for about 18 months which was great fun but cost a fair bit in bills etc.

I've had no worries with my Impreza. Its a UK car in Sonic Blue (best colour IMHO) and with a few mods is pretty quick. However, I still wander back on here from time to time to see whats for sale at the moment. My Scoob has now become a weekend and fine day car so its need to be practicle isn't as high as it once was - hence me being on here now looking in the FS section.

Whatever JDM 4X4 turbo car you get its going to cost you and if your looking at 4.5K cars you'll probably be looking at that again over the next 12-18 months. Personally I'm not bothered which is faster, better etc its which car I want to own that counts and for me the urge to get another GTIR is really strong right now. I've considered going to an EVO5/6 but I think I'd still want another R.

Crazy eh!!?

Your right I didnt have a very good experience with a pulsar, first the clutch went (£750) and then the gearbox (£1200) then to top in off the engine went bang (1500) but im still thinking bout getting another one..

Performance wise my pulsar woz running 1bar of boost with a moogoose system on it and hks filter, blow off valve so it woz running bout 290bhp..

Raced my bro's cossie when I had the R and got killed so thats why I brought a cossie..

My cossie is running a stage 3 setup at the mo and I reckon its the quicker car out of the two..

I bought the Pulsar because Nissan did stop making it.

If Nissan had continued to make the R, they too would have added odd shaped headlights and forced several million variants upon us. They too would have made so many R’s that you’d see hundreds on your way to work. The name ‘pulsar’, ‘R’ and ‘GTi-R’ would be common words in cocktail bars, squash clubs, and frequent the company car list with its latest weird front grille.

I bought the Pulsar because its a bit odd, a creation of its never-to-be-repeated chance history. But I bought it cos once over its inherent flaws it can still show spanky new Porkers and Scoobies alike a thing or two.

Sure the Impreza has pretty much always been a ‘better’ car, lets not kid ourselves, but we didn’t chose the R because it’s the better car but because to us it offers an ownership prospect matched by only a very few cars ever made.

Rare as hell, Fast per £, 4WD, Looks fat as f*ck.

I love Pulsars and I love Scoobies. I’d love a horse and cart if it had a turbo and BBS rims. I’d still drive an ‘R though….

I would think about a newish scoobie if I had the cash  , If you have or are planing on haveing kids they make a lot of sense  .

Also seeing as they still use them to go raceing there's a lot of tuning parts out there 8) , In my opinion there a lot easyer to get big power out of than the gti-r  .

It's about time we stopped slateing other makes on the forum  , All that matters is that we all love are motors surely  .

rob
Rob youve gone soft in the head

I sold my Pulsar to by a Scooby and never regreted it one single bit. My impreza is now quicker than the Pulsar I owned, and the quality and refinement is 2nd to none!

But as you and I both know your old pulsar was a right 5hitter     , And even now any good pulsar running 1 bar would pi55 all over your 285bhp scumberoo      .
