Something i saw on a Ford forum, the rod to the penny washer was bent, so the wastegate wasn't closing properly and so it wasn't making full boost.

hi !

i still dont get max. boost before 5500,but cars runs very very good now.
pulls at around 3000 instead of 3500.

yesterday it ran an 12.2.

but i still cant find what might be wrong.
i will try to fit a restrictor(oil feed)
maybe there is to much oil and spoolup is blocked.

hi !

just removed my turbo.
do you think this might be the reason for late boost:

i also got 90trim - isnt it to big for a 2.0 engine ?

what do you think about a smaller trim and the 0.64 exhaust housing ?

thanks

That'll be the reason then, Definitely !! with that damage I'm surprised you got any boost at all

hi !

yes, i miss parts of piston rings.
see here:

http://www.weidewaren.de/DSC00202.jpg

but turbo was going fine up to 1.8 bar.(at 5500 - 8000rpm)
got a 12.2 with it - think its a bad time for a gt3071 anyway.

but i dont know how long the turbo is damaged and how long the piston.
most parts of the ring were found in the head.

its also possible that my turbo was damaged long ago.
got it installed for around 20000 km.

but its also possible that it was damaged by the piston parts.
and if yes - it was not the reason for late boost.

i will do a new rebuild now and get a new turbo,maybe a gt2871
or gt3071 with small exhaust housing.

bye.

Winek, as others have said your turbine looks badly damaged and would explain the poor pickup, especially as you have the .86 housing, most of the air probably by passed the turbine altogether.

What I don't understand is given you piston looks so bad, how come you hadn't noticed any damage to your spark plug earlier?

Cheers,
Jim

hi !

i got one spark damaged and replaced.
then everything was fine for around 50km and one 1/4 mile run.
this time i had a 13.2 with a bad start.
the 12.2 was few weeks before.

on the way home i broke the second plug and car was running
poor(think on 3 cylinders). replacing it had no effect so i got the car
home on a trailer.

thanks
