hi !

what boost levels do you have with your gt3071 ?
my one is 0.86 ar with 2.75" inlet.

i read that people get 1.7 at 3500 rpm ???

there is no chance that i get 1.0 bar before 4000.
at 3500 there is less than 0.5 bar

i just tried it with removed vacuum pipe = unlimited boost
just wanted to pass my avcr etc.

there was no difference . i got 1.5 bar at around 4500 rpm.
1.8 bar even later... (thats my avcr B setting)

car has:
gt3071R,0.86ar
800 inj.
z32 maf
powerFC
272 cams with 11.0 lift
polished head
3" turbo elbow with 2.5" exhaust
no cat
tubular manifold

thanks
bye.

sounds like a set up or mapping problem.

you shoudl defo be hitting full boost before 3.5k nevermind 4k...

have the same turbo myself, and thou I'm only running in engine, I can confirm she boosts very quickly and would be at 1bar just after the 3k mark - without even mapping.

And I haven't got the 3" elbow or downpipe neither...
makes me question whether I even need it.... hmmm...

hi !

wastegate is closed. i tried it disconnected too.
maybe it opens at very low boost.
but i dont think it can open with disconnected pipe.
tried it with a kompressor today and it seems to work ok.

dont think its a mapping prob, because with standard map it was the same.

i will try to check the whole system for leaks with 1,2 and maybe 3 bar.
want to remove the air filter and connect the kompressor here.

tried it today with 1 bar but my selfmade connector was leaking,
so i need to make other one.

is it correct that when i put 1 bar on air filter side its blowing off
the rocker cover too ? i mean the pipe that goes to my oil catch tank..

thanks
bye.

On my .64 3071 I'm making positive boost above 2K and have hit 0.7Bar by 2.5K
It sounds like you've got some leak/mechanical problem.

You have definately got a leak somewhere...

1. try wiring the wastegate tight shut.......... (be careful not to over boost when you take it for a run)

2. pressurize your intercooler pipe run from your compressor outlet up to your plenum inlet..........

3. check the whole system to see if all small gauge vacuum pipes are connected, including the one that connects to the AVCR......

4. are all your gaskets OK ??

hi !

first i need a new connector so i can check the complete system.
will try to weld something in the next days,so i can connect my kompressor
to the inlet.
but then i am in holidays so it will take over 2 weeks to check everything.

all pipes and clamps seem ok.

actually i drive with disconnected wastegate. but there is no difference.
there is no way to reach 1 bar before 4000/4500. at 3500 i got 0.5 (3rd gear)

at around 5000 i got 1.7 / 1.8 and cars runs perfect up to 8000
(with connected wastegate and avcr of course)

could it be the 3" turbo outlet ?
maybe there is not enough back pressure.

thanks
bye.

Although you say the wastegate is disconnected from the boost solenoid because it's vacuum isn't attached, I would want to make sure the wastegate rod is adjusted correctly and allows the wastegate to close properly, just to make sure.

hi !

i checked it yesterday and its closed.

do you think that it may open itself when driving ?
maybe thats the reason.

but the rod is fix and you cant move it with your hands,
so i dont think it can open itself. (i mean with no vacuum pipe)

hi !

actuator is 0.4 bar.

turbo elbow is 3" and exhaust is 2.5"

but actually i drive with disconnected vacuum pipe.

it seems that i have a leak or the wastegate is opening
by exhaustgas pressure.

thanks
bye.

hi !

actually my engine is out(clutch change)
so i could pressurize my intake etc.

i installed my compressor direct to the intakeplenum.
and everything is fine. adjusted it to 2.0 bar and my boost
meter says also 2 bar(installed 2 other meters to check everything, all ok)

as my wastegate was closed(before engine removal) i have no idea now.
at 4000 rpm i got 0.6 bar. even with removed actuator pipe.
dont think its normal. also tried with standard powerFC map - no effect.

maybe i should try a stronger actuator ?

any other ideas ?
thanks
bye.

Westgate opens to bleed off exhaust gasses and control boost pressure so with it shut should boost up to the full capability of the turbo. Be carefull as you could see some very high spikes and pressures that will cause damage !!!.

hi !

yes,i know. but with disconnected wastegate there is no effect.
i still get around 0.6 bar at 4000 rpm. at maybe 5500 have 1.4 or so.

just ordered other actuator. hope to install engine on weekend.

thanks
bye.
