Shouldn't the oil drain should be almost vertical? I remember pulsar turbo recommending about 15+/- degree allowable clock angle for the oil feed and drain.
Yeah it should, but it was an emergency issue I had to make.

Its got a "decent" return angle on it, but its not ideal, buy any means.

Thankfully I found the OEM return pipe, so will install that later once I get some other bits sorted.

I'll have some spare time late November and over December, so should be able to swap it back over and take off that "temp mod"

Then it will be a case of getting the car run in nicely, ECU upgraded, mapped and then out on track for some "winter testing"

So this happened at the weekend...

Very happy to hear it fire into life again!
Its been a long time since I heard it run, but to get it running with no serious issues was a real pleasing moment for me.

Once again @campbellju was a great 2nd set of eyes and support making sure we've crossed the T's and dotted the I's.

Car warmed up well and no major electrical issues.

We played with the Nistune software, adjusted the fueling, AFR’s and idle.

I did have a small leak from the radiator what was a fixed and we also had some oil leaking from the turbo.

After some investigation and internet googling, we put it down to my custom oil return pipe not allowing the flow back into the sump quick enough, causing a possible back up.

I then spent the rest of Sunday taking off the turbo to reinstall the OEM return feed, which look hours!
Plus farting around getting all the pipes and exhaust to match up - I think I developed full blown Tourette’s by the end of it.

Everything is back together now, so it’s a case of restarting, checking the OEM return pipe is working at the correct angle.
No oil leaks and, then its fixing all the other crappy bits and electrical gremlins I'll no doubt find.

Sounds nice!!! i'd be interested to know what exhaust set up you've got on there. Which reminds me, i want to cut out those poxy mid boxes from my system which have been well and truly buggered by speed bumps by the previous owner. Straight pipe that bastard.

Its custom made by a company here in the northwest (Pipeworx)

It’s a 3"custome elbow and down pipe into a baffled silencer and a resonator sausage box, down to a 2.5” and tipped with a 3" tail pipe.

All the silencers and 2.5" sections will be removed and replaced with a 3" system and tip next year.

----------------------------

On another note, I've ran the car up to temps now and had the rads kicking in.
I've sprung a small water leak round the back of the car which I've found and ordered new parts for.
I'll install that in a couple of weeks when I'm back from my travels.

Interestingly, the turbo is still leaking a little oil from the cold and hot side.
This is newly refurbished along with the engine. I did some googling and it said refurbed and new turbos sometimes need a good hard heat cycle to “bed-in" and they should seal up. Not sure how true that is, not sure if anyone has any feedback on that synopsis?

Then I'll run the car up to temp for one last time, make sure there are no issues and then, change the oil for some more mineral running in oil and have the car trailer to a specialist rally prep garage in Cumbria for them to map the car on a Link G4X.

Just a basic map so I can load up the engine and drive it around for a bit.
Then drop the oil, get the exhaust upgraded and then go back for final mapping and crank up the boost a little.

Looking for a basic 1 bar map to potter around in and a bit of fun exiting roundabouts.
Then a switchable, more aggressive/boosty map for track action or more "fun" driving!

Going to add new sensors around the car so the ECU can see what's going on and a MAP sensor to get rid of the Z32 and Nistune stuff.
If I can I'll try and get the GTR coil packs added to the final mapping and junk the dizzy etc.

Then its suspension, brake upgrades, none of those in any order.

Then realise I'm poor af and garage the car as I can't afford the tax, insurance or fuel!
