Help! I know this is quite a common fault with the 'R', but my car needs MOT next month. Anyone have any ideas how to fix this problem? CHEERS :?

This problem appeared when I came back from a week abroad....
For 2 days it worked if you accelerated gently, but if you gave it some it just sat at 0mph :!:
Then i accelerated hard...and noticed the needle was lying in the instrument pod :lol: :lol:
I stripped the dash (doesn't take too long), popped it back on and refitted the dash...but forgot that it jumps up to zero when you turn the ignition on :roll:
Now it reads 15mph when you're sitting still...but it gives me a rough idea until i can be arsed to take it apart again :?
