Bob, i think you need to add a few more "very"'s :roll:

Davey, you've got to be kidding yourself if it didn't need re-shimming....

you were very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very lucky davey:lol: everytime ive changed a set of cams (even standard) the shims need to be adjusted, dont forget were talking in thousands of an inch difference here and its virtually impossible to have 2 cams with exactly the same wear rates on each individual lobe.
very very very very very

I'm not very sure because I very much think that my engine was being very rebuilt anyway when the cams very went it.
I very though they were a drop in part, but I very much guess that you'd at least have to very adjust them a very little (hey that one actually fitted like it should) to get them very right (I'm on a roll now).

ha ha this is "very" funny.. there seems to be very many peoples diffrent very many views on this cam fitment.. personally i would just install and check shim clearance.. and if anyplay then get some very shiny new ones installed! thats me done here.. phh children ;-) ha ha

if the clearances are tight you will lose power as the valves wont be closing properly, this in turn will lead to valves being burnt out prematurely and possible damage to valve seat also. but your engine wont be rattly!

if on the other hand they are too loose (depending how loose they are) you may just experience a noisy topend 'which isnt really gonna cause any damage' but if the clearances are very loose then you heighten the risk of throwing a rocker which could lead to just snapped shims and rocker arms or it could lead to bent valves if a rocker gets jammed across the head of the valve.

thats why its very very very important to make sure they are reasonably well adjusted:lol:
