sorry I meant bell n rotor as the discs larger than 300mm tned to be a two piece affair so they stop too much heat being dissipated to the disc and out to the wheel n hubs etc.

I am running 285mm disc with hi spec 4 pots but were already on the car. works well and stops nicely.

speak to hi spec about the price of their 285 upgrade. is only like 150 pounds and better than the 12 groove combi crap out there on std size!

get some decent pads like mintex and you will notice the difference.

Anyone got any pictures of R's running the big disk setup?

I'm worried that it would result in a nasty rusty patch on the disk where the pads dont make contact. I could be wrong though...

there you go lee! cheaps as chips mate and better than std as you get the brackets as well.

Stoned, mail me and I can send some pics....nwelch@webmethods.com

why worry about the rust patches? you will have 10-15% more braking potential so surely that is better!

KIT SIZE CALIPER LESS VAT (£)
285 / 24mm retain std caliper 183.75
310 / 28mm retain std caliper 378.00

How much better are the 310's - or do u just end up with bigger rusty bits?

or

335 / 32mm MONSTER 4 & 6 4 pot £882.00 6 pot £987.00

Ouch Ouch - I need to win the lottery!

with the 310 you get more braking area for the std pad...I guess about another 10% more surface area for the pad to bite to.

but for the price of the disc you might as well throw in the extra 100 pounds or so to uprate the cailpers and have even more bite with a four pot.

you pays yr way.

So then it becomes a choice between

310 / 28mm BIG DISC KIT - retain std caliper £378.00
285 / 24mm BILLET 4 caliper £ 441.00

Bigger disc standard caliper or smaller disc 4 pot caliper ???

My head is starting to hurt!!

Oh... and anyone know where to get braided hoses from?

Would this kit '285 / 24mm retain std caliper 183.75 ' be better than Black Diamond grooved disks, for instance?

I think the HiSpec disks are grooved and/or drilled also.

The Black Diamond discs are probably standard size (260 ?).

So standard caliper on a 285 disc will be better than a standard caliper on a 260 caliper due to the extra leverage applied by the bigger diameter.

Didn't realise that they were grooved. It doesn't say that!

They would obviously be the best then!

gee tee go for better calipers any day as you can get a lot more pressure on the pad area so I would prefer the better calipers with the 285 disc.

anything is better than std size, regardless of what brand is slapped on them!!

I've just spoken to Hispec. The 285 retain standard caliper kit requires slight modification to the caliper, drilling out a 'lug' apparantly.

I'm awaiting a callback regarding the Greenstuff pads, apparantly EBC may have just changed this to the old Blackstuff pads

Greenstuff pads are toilet IMHO.

Redstuff do give slightly better bite once warm but wear out damn quick.

Go for Mintex or Pagid fast road pads.
