Sorry, you're wrong. DOT 5.1 was specifically designed for ABS brake systems. It also doesn't matter if you mix 5.1 with DOT 4 or DOT 3 as, they are all glycol based, as mentioned before.
Also, I don't think you can use DOT 5 in every braking system as, it reacts bady to some rubbers and pipe materials iirc. I think it was only used on old French cars or something along those lines ?!
However, if you're looking for a decent brake fluid, go for the one with the highest boiling point which, will most likely be a DOT 4 spec. Something like Motul RBF600 or there's a Delphi fluid that's pretty good.
If you're not confident in bleeding the brakes yourself, get someone who is to do it. Brakes are pretty important afterall !!
