Anyone ever fitted different rear calipers?

If you do fit a rear caliper, never use one that came off the front of another car is what I was told. It will have too much braking effect, upset the balance and probably throw you into a tail spin or lock the rears at the very least.
The other rear calipers (disc brakes) I've seen have the hand brake mechanism built into them, so I wouldn't thought it would be a big problem doing any adapting.
Couldn't you just fit a big disc conversion with the standard caliper if you're simply after a cheap upgrade?

try the rear brakes from a USDM Maxima or JMD Cefrio. Not sure what they are called in the UK. Those brakes are a common swap in the US. Once you set the brake bias properly you will be set straight. Simon check these out, keep in mind im assumming you will need to make up some adapter plates...which isnt a problem for you MR. Fabrication man[;)]. Also look into getting a larger bore master cylinder if you change the rear calipers.
