fueling check

Last time i got a rolling road tune/checkover it was £60 for an hour on the rollers, they checked AFR's were ok and gave printouts, £125 sounds a bit steep imo

just a quick question out of curiosity, how many of you guys that have had your fueling "checked" have actually had your injectors tested/cleaned to make sure their all in spec?
probably best to send 6 off then refit straightaway as the cleaning fluid can cause needles to stick.
but then youd probably need another remap if overfuelling etc.
never straightforward ..

difficult to say from the photo. Have you checked the voltage at the pump? This could be causing you lean spots rather than the AFC.

A 1 Bar R doesn't really need mapping and should run a little rich if anything so the fact you're running lean might point to something else.

The AFC is quire simple and just adds additional fuel at the rpm shown and interpolates between points. It might not be working properly or the wiring is damaged.

this is ONLY a guide to afr I have found, and gtir sr20det is unique, so may differ a little ... but my day to day afr matches more or less as in bold as tuned by Ed@fusion

Alright seems that alot of people have that "what AFR is Ideal"
question in mind and search but don't search hard enough or are just
too damn lazy. no worries I have taken time out of my so called
:valuable life" to write my fellow zilvians the AFR sessentials,
Injector size calculator, and come common injector sizes from other
cars here we go

Air/Fuel Mixture
6.0 Rich Burn limit (fully warm engine)
9.0 Black Smoke Low Power
11.5 Aproximate rich best torque at WOT
12.2 SAfest best power at WOT
13.3 Aproximate Lean best torque
14.6 Stoichiometric AFR (chemically Ideal)
15.5 Lean Cruise
16.5 Usual Best Economy
18.0 Carburated Burn Limit
22+ EFI Burn Limit

if you are further confused and don't know what to pick here are the answers
11.3 at WOT and full boost
14.6 at idle (mine more 13-14 - cooler idle)
12.2 cruise / low throttle
14-16 lean cruise (off boost / motorway)

I know it's not your information and though the air fuel mixtures given are correct the "answers" for WOT at full boost (What's full boost, 0.7bar or 2.0bar?) and the cruise/low throttle are too rich.

you tell me mate, was only a guide.
cruise/lt is more low boost (above 0 but not caining it - very technical i know..). but again, only a guide. im sure people can find more in depth information for fuel maps, rpm, boost etc if needed. but i dont really have the time to research it all for them :_)

No offence was meant. I just thought it strange that this information:

Air/Fuel Mixture
6.0 Rich Burn limit (fully warm engine)
9.0 Black Smoke Low Power
11.5 Aproximate rich best torque at WOT
12.2 SAfest best power at WOT
13.3 Aproximate Lean best torque
14.6 Stoichiometric AFR (chemically Ideal)
15.5 Lean Cruise
16.5 Usual Best Economy
18.0 Carburated Burn Limit
22+ EFI Burn Limit

which is reasonable but contradicted the answers they gave. 12.2 give or take is best power, 11.3 is richer than their guide for "rich best torque".

I dont know if im running lean or not just wanted to see if tape* is good enought i was worried about it being near fuel as i thought it might corrode the tape cheers chris

I would have soldered them simply because it's a pain to have to pull the pump back out to fix a wiring fault.

Those are outside the tank aren't they? Heat shrink is always better than PVC tape but it will be fine. Just stick some more PVC tape on if you're worried :)

I just re-read George's post and agree you should check if they've been soldered and not just twisted together with a bit of PVC tape.
