what sort of power??

just wondered if anyone could tell me what sort of power i could expect out the setup im building my car too and give me any suggestions on how to go about it

spec as follows:

engine:

87mm wiseco pistons
std rods with arp rod bolts
std crank
full acl race series bearings
cometic 1.2mm head gasket
hks 264 cams
alu light weight flywheel
forge fmic and hardpipe kit
front exit exhaust
zytec ecu and aerospec loom with coilpack
tubular turbo top mount manifold

head fully recon'd
oil pump recon'd
brand new water pump
std headbolts

chassis:

tein s/s coilovers
hi-spec 300mm discs and 4 pot calipers
cusco front and rear strut braces
anti dive kit
whiteline a/r/b d-bushes
whiteline polybushed drop links
compomotive 17" mo6 alloys
goodyear eagle f1 tyres

im also planning on going for:

760cc injectors
gt3071 turbo
clutch undecided
gearbox recon'd or shot peened depending on power
run 1.5 bar boost
require turbo elbow

ive probably forgotten parts but this is a rough idea so if anyone can lend a bit of advice it would be appreciated

Ditch the cometic hg and go for either cosworth or hks.

There are others on here who have far more experience than me, however from the research I did when I was building my car, which had a very similar spec engine wise to yours. I discovered that the build quality on a Cometic gasket is very low and they have a tendency to fail, due to the fact that they don't fit the head 100%. Hopefully others will chip in, but the general consensus here and on the other forum is that they're not really up to the job on a 400bhp+ car, which yours will be.

Well I have pretty the much the same setup with that turbo an mapped by Horsham development. With up rated clutch I
Should be seeing 450bhp

Not a bad power figure not wantin to go mental as i want reliablility.but dont know what clutch to get or where feom and now gona have to buy a new headgasket as having doubts about it ao doea anyone know where i can get a cosworth or hks 1.2mm one?

cometic is a very poor headgasket for the gtir engine and will fail, just use standard headbolts as they are fine on 5 -550 hp cars and the arp headbolts are problematic. 1.5 bar will net you around 420bhp but go to 1.6 bar and you will be in the turbos better range and it will genatrate abit more torque

Ok where can i get an hks or cosworth one?yeh bob told me the arp was were pretty poor so was just gona use standard ones.what kind of clutch will i need?also what size of oil cooler will be needed?

Ebay for a 200sx sr20det or anywhere you can find it they are circa £100 , they do a range of sizes for bore and a range of thickneses hks are not the best on a 87mm bore as the gasket is designed for 88mm bore, helix heavy duty cover and paddle or organic, or a twin plate Os giken or similar and get a big 15 row cooler and cover it in cold weather or fit a thermostatic sandwich plate

What's with the arp head studs? Never heard of them being a problem before. Is it not just people not torquimg them up properly and not using the correct thread locking compound from arp?

So realisticly im best off going for a cosworth one to get an 87mm bore?thanks do u have a website where i can find a clutch?i know i sound like a total noob but i just dont want to take any unecessary risks.you dont have or know anyone who has the oil cooler kit id need for sale?

They dont:

have enough thread and purchase in the gtir block which can cause some warp'd liner problems when torqued up.

are not long enough to bottom out and when torqued up can twist in the bock causing un even stretch on them therefore un even clamping of the head,

they are supposed to be re torqued when the engine has been run (ball ache taking the cams out to do),

basically they are not long enough, there are others that make studs that do fit properley and ironically are supplied by arp.

the arp and cometic gaskets seem to only be a problem on our engines (maybe due to there being no real development by a mass of people like evo's).
You dont really need them unless you start running alot more torque than any of us i have only seen a gtir head lift from det personally with standard headbolts and that was my old (3 years ago) engine that had a gt3076 and a boost controller that failed which showed peak of 2.6bar and it melted between the liners on cylinders 1/2 and 2/3

Try helix themselves in silverstone northamptonshire for the clutch............and do spec you want the heavy duty cover not there standard uprated

Bollocks, got arp bolts throughout for mine as never known any issues with them before. Anyone wanna buy a set of arp head studs? Lol.

crack on then as it's not bollocks, if your trying to get a rise it won't happen. next thing you'll be saying is that you don't need a torque plate to bore ali block's correctley.
