Fitted the Box a few weeks ago, hell of a job can see why they drop the engine, but managed it in place.
Racing on the weekend for the firt time this year, will be trying some new suspension settings and also some lighter wheels and a few aero tricks. If I can just gain a second on last year I will be happy. Will do a handfull more events to try a few things out then save for forged pistons, turbo etc. Still not 100% sure what I will do to the engine in total but have a reasonable idea.
Will keep you informed how I get on

I must admit was was feeling a bit aprehensive about this even as I felt I had not done enough to improve the car over the winter due to car problems.
On the first run on a wet track most of the evo,s a scoobys were doing 101 to 104 secs I was 99... second run I went quicker by 3 seconds, but many overtook my time by a few seconds
First timed run was in the Pooring rain so I swapped my rear tyres to the front as they had more tread and ended up second not only in class but the meeting beating all the Evo,s and scooby,s..there was a Renault Megan 226 with all the driver aids, the driver( who is a good racer) said it sorts it all out all you have to do is have the confedence to drive it flat out, He was one second infront and I felt I could have beaten him if it stayed that wet as I could have gone a bit quicker.
Last run was on a very damp track and like a dummy I missed 3rd gear and went into 5th as I went onto the stait....quicly re-selected 3rd and pushed on...ended 4th less than one tenth behind 3rd and only 2 seconds off the winner. Was anoyed with myself but the car now handles better than ever. Was also the first time I have run with a rear defuser. Will be doing a double event at next weekend so hopefully will have a dry run to gauge the handling then. I now know 100% the car can take a good increase in power. Desision now is weather to race more or save for more power!!..will decide after next weekend.
Cheers

sounds very promising phil
the gtiroc should sponsor you with all the unused membership money
Would sell my soul for sponsership, when I raced my Mini I had many sponsers from Shell UK to Minispares London but found it hard in this economic climate to find anybody interested specially when no one knows what a Pulsar is.... if I could get my entries and fuel cost covered I would be satisfied.
As for the rear defuser I have made a quick kevlar/carbon one up to see if it works, will take a mould of it when completed. Although will only remake it in G/F as I had the kevlar left over, its to expensive to buy these days.
Cheers for the interest.

Keep up the good work Phil.

Should be fitting the bits you made to the car next month.

Keep me posted on the "diffuser" situation ;)

Do you racing boys have problems with front wheelspin? I did the Croft sprint at easter in mine and it was spinning the inner front on fast 3rd gear corners. Ive got my name down on the front LSD GB, but its all gone very quiet.
As an interim, ive fitted the whiteline front bar to match the rear one. The springs I'm running are hard, and the corner weights are near. Anybody?

I would be very interested indeed on the rear diffuser situation, anything to get rid of the parachute effect.

Jon, No I dont get problems with the wheel spinning even in the wet, so not sure why you this should happen. LSD would without doubt cure that.
As for the deffuser, I will try it again this weekend hopefully on a dry run to see if it makes any difference, but the main reason I made it ( apart from the phsylogical impact of it) was to stop the drag from the rear bumber, its not full width yet and not sure if it can be made like that due to the suspension etc but will have another look at it soon.
Will get some pics done soon
Cheers

Ok I went down to Pembrey to watch the sprint. I spoke to Phil and the deffuser looks amazing. I deffinitely want one of these even if its for looks alone. I did take some photos of it so here they are.

Also here are some photos of Phils car. You would never guess he had grp panels on the car.

Thanks for the pics well done specially the ones under the car ...
Yes the bloody intercooler pipe came of not only on the first timed run but also the second as well, after tighting with a socket set, never done it before...think a small amount of oil contaminated it, got it fixed on Sat night with a longer piece of hose and 3 clips...did not move today.
Car does not seem any quicker than last year and I had brainfade on the last run and **** up the gears...( was 3rd) not sure were to go from here now will have a think over the next few days before making any rash decisions.
Thanks again for the pics will be modifying the defusser a bit more before making a mould, will keep you informed.
