As for the know how, My mate has rebuilt tons of engines before and we both have good engineering standards all we're lacking is the SR20det specifics. but (thats what these forums are good) all you have to do is pick out the good advice from the crap lol:-D

Ive just been doing some reading on threads, some regular members say you can re use the head bolts. Ive looked on the Maintenence Manual and It says you can re-use bolts on SR20 DE and not SR20DET.

What do you reckon Bob, Danny or VSS Irvine? you'll know better than me. do I re use them or should I go new?

i have re-used mine, as recommended by someone with alot of experiance, was advised only to re-use once though (my engine had never been apart so was ok)

Yes this is the page I was refering to earlier

http://www.gtirworkshopmanual.com/default.aspx?v=207

as I said before It states SR20DE, it says nothing about a turbo powered one I.E. SR20DET (I read this as, bolts shouldnt be re used on turbo engines) If anyone know a page that says otherwise I would appreciate seeing it.:-D

Im not being tight, infact I dont think my mate will even let me not put old back in. But I am really interested as to what is the Norm

they can be used but you need to know the history of them, not sure if the manual lists the length tolerances.

at end of the day its your choice mate, personally, if your going to the hassle of doing a full rebuild,

do it right, do it once.

Engine came out today...

Turbo is buggered- turbine housing is cracked from the wastegate to the outside of the housing that'll explain a few of my problems!

one of the engine mounts is completly buggered (rubber bit in the middle isn't attached at all)

lots of rubber gaitors are rotten through

sure there's more!

Any one any ideas about the turbo? anyone have one to sell or recommend a good seller? PM me!
