Which organic clutch should I get?

After having spoken to a clutch & gearbox specialist it appears very likely my shift problems are down to my current clutch being faulty.

I would like to change to a different brand since everyone here hates exedy

He feels AP racing clutches are the best from his own experience, but I thought I would find out what you all recommend. I run 295lbs torque on high boost but I don’t launch the car very often and I certainly don’t want a paddle on/off switch style clutch.

Which organic clutches should I look at?

Cheers fellas

I've had a helix for over 3 years ( same clutch ). No slip, running up to 1.4 bar, quite a few launches. Seems ok...

I'd get a 6 paddle, or a nine paddle nismo clutch if your feeling flush, I ran a nismo paddle for 3 years and 36000k with no problems at all, And it drove like a normal clutch.

I think the only paddles that are really bad to drive are the likes of the 3 and 4 paddle HKS style clutches. I had one in my old pulsar and I hated it   , But the 6 paddle spec clutch I have now feels great and will hold 460lb's  :D .

AP are old hat mate :( whoever told you that is living in the past, best option is a helix organic or an RPS street max. the RPS is rated more but the helix is a tried and tested unit.

you want to look at SRB power on here in the traders section.

Yeah I'm looking at those right now. Much higher torque rating!
I wonder what the pedal is like though...

£550 gets you a lightened flywheel and clutch, not bad really.

The pedal on my helix seemed as light as a feather and much better that the nismo organic i had in before that. As the RPS is rated much higher than the helix i imagine it will feel heavier on the pedal but cant see it being that bad. Even if it is heavy it should still be nice and easy to use :D

Can recommend Helix Organic - had it in for 2 1/2 years, nice n'smooth drive, grips everytime & handles 6K drag-starts no probs

Pedal is only a bit heavier than standard, used to drive it everyday in clogged up town traffic with no probs.

Fantastic clutch - if you've got the wonga get y'flywheel lightened at the same time :)

Cheers,

Still waiting on some shims!
For your 295lb.ft i would use the Helix Organic...

RPS Paddle looks good but i'm not sure about the Organic one... It seems use too high a presure cover plate for the standard clutch plate, which in turn can cause premature failure... Most seem ok though...

When you say your clutch is light as a feather do you mean really light as i have a helix organic and compared other cars clutch felt quite heavy and it was only fitted 100 miles before i bought the car. All in all though i have only driven the car myself about 500 miles before the gearbox broke so does the clutch need more time to bed in or do you think there something funny with my clutch.
