Ive not personal witnessed it, but a few people with R's have told me they have hit the standard limiter in 5th.

When al did totbIII in his pulsar he was hitting the limiter in 5th a long way before the speed check point, this was on a quaife box, the final drive of the quaife is the same as the standard gearing iirc, cant remember how fast it was going now as it was 2 years ago but it wasn't anywhere near 171mph, have a hunt through the old results and you'll have an indication of the top speed of the gtir.

seen 156 so fast that i had to back off for a slight lefti on the m wayleft an old m3 standing although this wasnt in the pulsar not taken the pulsar past 100......i find the pulsar best on b road twisty's the car just loves corners and havent found anyone who can keep up with her. :lol: :lol: :lol:

If the gearing in 5th is 168, which i doubt :? , 171 would be easy with an 8k rev limit... as it happens i have one of those Mines ECU with a 80,000 rpm limit.. so 171 would be easy for me if i was stupid enough!

With those sort of revs you could theoretically do 1,710mph :shock:

Although i reckon the poor aerodynamics of the R would probably only allow 1,600 odd mph :lol: :lol: :lol:

Als car did 150 odd iirc, thats with a standard final drive and 7500rpm rev limit. Beetle juice got a recorded 158mph and pulling at totb with his quaife...what final drive and rev limit do you have mate?

Im pretty sure I have an 80,000 RPM rev limit, some plonker made a mistake when they mapped some of the MINES ecu's, before i knew this i accidently sent mine seriously into the red.

My personal rev limit is the 7.5 k nissan intended, and i dont plan on breaking any land speed records

When I had my R I had it sat at just under 155mph on the speedo as I overtook a CLK AMG that I was racing. He was going just a bit slower than me but when we started to go round a corner I kept it nailled and he backed off a bit :twisted:

I've had my 106 reading 140mph since then

it was ok, cos i saw the fuelin was well rich, so i backed off at 7400 rpm in top, (redline is 7700)

and so broke as hard as posible, i was standstill just before the 400 metre brakin mark, (you can brake from 200mph at that point safely).

me and Ben (R called jay) my brother mapped the car in the mornin for 27 psi at redline (full boost will be up to 35psi)

but as the ecu started to have a fault, it kept goin into limp on any thing over 25 psi peak,

so i turned it down to 23 psi, but only roughly checked the map in lower gears before the top speed attempt, and ended goin mega rich in top gear.


i have taken it to the redline before, on a smaller run way than Brunters, so next time i'm there, and runnin full power i'll want to hit the redline of 182-3 mph.

Most I have had out mine so far was 140mph with more to go of course, that was racing an 04 plate Scooby (all i can say it looked alot better in the rear view mirror) :lol: .

Had mine on the limiter in 5th dusting a 2.0 Turbo Nova on the private runway alongside the M25 early one morning. Speedo said between 160 and 170 but I know it is way out so was prob much more like 150.

And saying there is a bit of wind noise at that sort of speed is an understatement.......
