Buy a decent diesel and chip it. My wife has a midly chipped Ibiza sport (150hp) but the Ibiza cupra can easily make 195hp and still 50mpg..... And it has abround 280lb/ft of torque at 2000rpm :shock: :lol: I've driven a Type R many times and it would struggle to keep up. Golf GTiD's can also be chipped up to 190hp and these are probably around the similar mark to the 2nd hand R
Not as easy to drag in a straight line but will kick poo out of many cars in traffic/twisties with very little effort......Soooo much low down torque
Or.... A BMW330D, I saw a video where a chipped one out dragged a F355 on the autobahn from 150-180mph :shock: (They then both eased off)
Many of my mates have been stunned by the response of my wife's car. Don't knock diesel it until you've tried a decent one.
