Turbo Elbow

I took my turbo off today as it was blowing from somewhere. After lifting the manifold and turbo out complete I soon noticed there was no nuts holding the elbow on and no gasket :shock:

No wonder it sounded loud, are these just normal nuts or do they need to be lock nuts :?: would I have benn loosing a lot of power due to this :?:

they should be lock nuts and you would have been losing power with a blowing exhaust.

I had the same problem, what caused it is the bolt on the downpipe underneath the car wasnt on, hence the rock of the exhaust made the elbow come loose.Make sure yours is on. I used normal nuts, m8 nuts i think they were

I had the same problem mate I used castleated locking nuts with incorporated washer. Made a hell of difference to the R's idle sorting the exhaust blow out! Now idles at 1000rpm from 1500 8)
