I see this is number 5. The one I have and crashed is number 10.
You had one?
I want one and will some day. I just love these cars...

The one im currently Building will be great. my first one was a RB, great car but short box can be a pain. the other two were RA models.

Yeah, it's not really a good example of a Nismo car because it's been so dicked with:
Not Nissan wheels.
Not a Nismo ECU (did they make such a thing?)
Not a Nismo clutch (which you used to be able to get)
Momo steering wheel (as already noted above)
Boost gauge, AFR etc added (somewhat randomly placed).
ARC Topmount.

All bits which are pretty easy to put back though (clutch might be tricky as its discontinued and most have probably been killed by now).

Yeah, but you have to source them all first... hence something like this thread. - Really you're just buying that for the VIN plate (which looks a bit like it was stuck-on as an afterthought).
It's still a GTi-R shell which has been stripped of most of the Nismo parts already.

No i dont think they were seam welded, there would be no need.
We do seam welding and its quiet a lot of work involved..

Yep but VIN's are unchangable and hence to me have all the value. This is why there is a substantial difference in price between between a pukka mk2 'scort mexico or RS2000 and a 1.2 with stuck on bits.

were nt the Nismo shells alot stronger? seam welded?
Nope, that would be a homogolated rally car (such as the NME shells, or a non-team entry like the one Boby bought from Europe).

I appreciate that the Nismo VIN is worth a lot in sentimental value; if it still had all the Nismo parts I'd probably be excited about it. - I suppose I'm just lamenting the number of "special" versions that have been buggered about with so much that they aren't special any more.

To use your analogy, is the mk2 escort worth as much if someone has decided to shoe-horn a V8 from a mustang (or worse; a chevy block) in it and ditched the original running gear to achieve it? - I'd say no (although I have exagerated a bit).

I feel the same way when I see something like a wintergreen R with the interior all stipped-out. It's a shame it doesn't still have the original features, and I think it's worth less (than one that does) because of that.
