I have done a search and have heard that you need a special tool to push the rear piston back in on the caliper. Is this completely necessary or is there a way you can get the piston back in without the tool :?: Also does it have to turn clockwise or anti-clockwise :?

You need a brake winder tool that you can buy from most automotive places. Dont try and just squese it back otherwise it will ruin the caliper. You also neeed to wind it back clockwise.

i used a plumbers wrench, gripped the edge of the piston without damaging the rubber seal.

i also thought you had to screw it back?

worked ok for me
