Non starting

Finally got my R ready to start and guess what? no go lol. Turns over fine so took out plugs and found them dry so no fuel. Took feed pipe off fuel rail and theres fuel there at pressure. Checked for spark no spark. I also noticed that the rev counter isnt moving, the only thing I can think of is that the ecu isnt getting an engine speed signal. Where does this signal come from?

Cheers Matt

... the engine ?

Seriously though, IIRC it gets a signal from the crank angle sensor ( inside the dizzy ) and needs that cranking signal before the ecu will switch on and do its thing. Check and make sure the plug is connected...

If it is, measure on the signal pin and turn the engine over, you should see the signal jumping up and down as you crank ( can't remember if its 5v or 12v, but you should see it switching ).
