on hard cornering, especially lefthanders, fuel surge is basically fuel starvation even though tank is baffled.kenan said:oh, baffled fuel tank ?????
That's normally the symptoms of an incorrectly fitted uprated fuel pump using a non standard pick-up sock. The socks that come with Walbro pumps are too short and don't reach the lowest part of the tank, you have to adapt the OEM sock from the standard pump to fit the new pump and fit it back into the standard position. Although not 100%, specially on those long hard corners on a track when really pushing the car, this should cure 99.9 % of any fuel surge problems you might get.pulsarboby said:on hard cornering, especially lefthanders, fuel surge is basically fuel starvation even though tank is baffled.
you have to carry in excess of half tank of fuel to avoid this, unless you have a swirlpot or similar fitted.
major problem on track gtirs
you are right with what you say about fitting the aftermarket sock, but on track as bracpan said, it will make no difference!stevepudney said:That's normally the symptoms of an incorrectly fitted uprated fuel pump using a non standard pick-up sock. Interesting read :-Dpulsarboby said:you are right with what you say about fitting the aftermarket sock, but on track as bracpan said, it will make no difference!
you really do have to carry in excess of half tank of fuel without some sort of swirlpot as the cornering speed when racing is much more aggressive than fast road or normal trackday driving.
without a swirlpot the only other option is a foam filled tank, or race fuel tank.
bracpan! this may interest you, i havent got the website but in japan theres a firm called ATTAIN, i have bought one of there systems s/h off someone on this site.
it it basically an 8''x6''x3'' alluminium box which houses a small but very powerfull walbro pump, which connects inline on fuel run under your bonnet, it is basically a highly pumped swirl pot but in a small package and easier to mount.
it does not do away with the main pump and fuel setup, it just keeps pressure to the fuel body at all times even if the car was upside down it would still supply fuel:lol:
i dont know how to post pictures on this site, so if somebody can explain to me how! in simple language, then i will put some piccies up of it, as it may be of benefit to a lot of peeps on this site who enjoy trackdays or who are looking at doing competitive racing

I notice that RHD Japan list these on their website, they might be able to supply you with a manual of some description?McDaveMP5 said:Good day everyone !
I just got that piece of shiny bit.... any one reads Japanese or can someone tell me what to plug where ?
From the picture and me ticking for a few minutes, how about:
- top left nipple: breather (not sure about this one)
- center left nipple: fuel feed
- bottom left nipple: fuel return
- right nipple is the one going to the fuel filter, and out to the rail ?
whould that make sence ?!
I'll post pics once installed, but need your help rapidly. Thanks !
