hi !

just checked with other powerFC - same effect.
so it can be the sensor only or its really knocking for some reason...

bye.

Its most likely engine vibration caused by the cams at the same frequency as its listening for knock. (especially if your picking this up in negative and low vacuum situations). I would question the shims even if they do seem right. Its vital these are checked HOT.

campbellju, the standard knock sensor location is about as good as you will get on the SR20.

hi !

yes,ok.
but why should new cams cause vibrations etc. ?

with standard cams everything was ok.
shims are all ok.

how can i check if engine is really knocking or not ?

bye.

you would hear it if it is really bad. should sound like a ball bearing stuck in your cylinder pinging around.
sensor must be duff.

hi !

got my car checked for knock and remapped yesterday.
there is no knock - it must be the sensor. will replace it soon.

now it runs up to 1.7bar with my gt3071 and should have over 400hp.
and there is no knock even at full boost in 5th.

finally i am very happy now.
took me around 2 years to get the car to this stage,
because of many problems and a bad mapper from london area.

thanks
bye.

Have you changed the sensor or is it just because the mapper told you there was no Knock?

I'd be intrerested to see what the map looks like if you don't mind. Hopefully the guy did a better job than the last lot of mongtards who ripped you off.

hi !

i will change the sensor soon - no time actually.

can take a pic of the maps in the next days.

well...this time i think its a good job, because car is running great.
no problems up to 8000 in any gear.

this time i found somebody here in germany who knows the powerfc.

Sleeper, my dear friend, you need to create your own threads.

Go into each section that you feel is relevant to your query and create a new thread just for your question. That way people will focus on your problem not that of the original post. ;-)

Welcome btw.

It will be interesting to see the maps. I am considering changing my knock sensor too at the moment as I had a leak on my inlet manifold. I noticed it most whilst cruising when hot. The problem is a new knock sensor is around £165  . Its a lot of money to spend if its just a knocking pipe and not the sensor.
