That's the trouble with these widebands. People fit them but don't know how to read them. There is no perfect AFR. It totally depends on the engine, RPM load, etc some engines are fine in the 15:1 area (lean burn), others not. One thing however is that going rich is not a good idea due to horrendous fuel consumption loss of power etc. Don't be fooled into thinking that it adds much cylinder cooling as its not as much as you would think.
The fact that the GTi-R ecu almost goes into panic when you increase the boost shows how its not suitable for it. People say otherwise, and are free to have that opinion, but crazy rich afr's, injectors on 100% with little or no control over what's going on is far from ideal in my mind!
