The problem is its so easy to get into, and potentially so much money to be made.chrisniss91 said:Looking through the magazines i am surprised with how many tuners there actually are now. There are loads now saying specialist's which i've never heard of before :?
I know all about engine going bang due to a certain tuner :evil:pulsar_stu said:Most tuners dont know how to tune the apexi products, so they blag it  and you end up either taking it back umpteen times or having your engine go bang  and then its not thier !!
This could be aimed at any of the tuners - we just dont know which one!fubar andy said:Somebody gonna give me a clue?
Like you said Dean its way too easy to set up business as a so called 'tuner' :? I can think of quite a few places that are summed up by everything you said above And i wouldnt even let them loose on my wheelbarrow, let alone a car :lol:deank93 said:The problem is its so easy to get into, and potentially so much money to be made.chrisniss91 said:Looking through the magazines i am surprised with how many tuners there actually are now. You phone and register a limited company name for £150 with companys house.
You call part suppliers and open accounts and negotiate credit limits.
Find and rent workshop premises.
Stick a few company logo on cars you didn't build to effectivly palm it off as your own work.
The next step is to sound like you really know what your talking about, maybe even make up a personal background in motorsport.
Stick a few adds in the magazines.....And thats it, your a tuner! free to carry out over priced, shoddy work and then when is all goes wrong you can simply blaim it on anyone else who has worked on it previously.
Are you thinking of writing in? Could make it a hat trickmadbazza95 said:Anyone read this yet ?
I guess this is CPP Motorsport, i can vouch for Gaz no end, took my evo down to him and he sorted a lot out, i got it back much quicker drove better due to his own alignment configuration and the price i got including a major service 3" exhaust and Forge actuator was unbelievably cheap, anyone worth their salt can apply their knowledge of motorsport to all types of car and have a success...pulsar_stu said:We have a tuner by us that started off as a cossie specialist, then a few years down the line he changed his cossie that he owned for a skyline so he decided he was a skyline specialist  He has since changed his car to an evo and now he is a jap specialist       All this changing has taken place over the last 4 to 5 years   i wonder what he might specialise in next    Most tuners dont know how to tune the apexi products, so they blag it  and you end up either taking it back umpteen times or having your engine go bang  and then its not thier fault  it was something you did  i think thier should be a regulator or some kind of official that keeps a check on these companys that are opening up as so called profesionals, to give them some sort of grading!!!!!!!!
and when i set up 'mongs R us' charging a fortune for doing 1 bar conversions i'll be the next one    :lol:jiw said:Just it seems theirs too many half job harrys jumping onboard and calling themselves "tuners".
GTIROC has been the origin of quite a few so far
