im looking at a difrent turbo setups.

i have been reading on the sr20 forum and alot of people use the s15 rollerbearing turbo with the gtir exhaust housing. im not looking for mega power 350 ish tops with mega punchy spooling.

but after maybe geting hold of one and andrebuild looking at maybe 300 plus quid. now il come across this

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI....Category=72205&_trkparms=algo=LVI&its=I&otn=2

i knw its to large for what im looking for but i knw they do a smaller turbo and for the price but what do you think to the turbos for the price

hey man that holset turbo is well beyond your goals. The hx40 can flow enough air to make upwards of 600whp with the right set-up. Holset turbo's are really nice but (don't quote me on this) usually require a new manifold. However, if you do decide to pursue the holset series turbo, the hy35 are internally gated, it will spool relatively quickly with the 9cm housing but will be limited to about 450whp. Hope this helps

Holset turbo's are getting good reviews on driftworks mate, meant to be a newer technology compared to the garrett gt series, 2871, 3071 etc. I 'm not to clued up on turbo's but comparing similar size holsets and garrett's the holset was spooling quicker and creating more power ( apparently ) , Don't know about the actual longevity of the holsets but theres loads of info out there and some vids of them on youtube. holset are the bad ass turbos. Same if not better quality than Garrett but for less money...cant go wrong. You would need a diferent manifold but then you would if you want efficient power.

Riske I completely agree with you regarding the potential of holset turbos:thumbsup:. I have attached a link below of a dyno from a dsm running a hx40 setup.
Although I will admit the holset is quick heavy, however, these turbos are built strong, spool well for journal bearing turbos and can withstand high levels of boost as they were originally manufactured for dodge diesel trucks.
