no i dont actually, not everyone who owns these cars no how they work, for alot of people its a case of getting in turning the key and off they go and thats as much as they know.

i would sugest maybe having a search on the site for some info, but if someone signs up and asks a simple question like whats the best oil to use then whats wrong with giving them a straight sensible answer, and not simply saying "use the search button" your alienating them before they even start

The most common questions should have a sticky with the Q & A to commonly asked questions placed at the top of general forum, that way there is zero excuse for asking commonly asked questions.

John - There is in the FAQ section ;-)

HotSnot92 - If you're serious about running the Irland Section then let me know..

Staff:
Seeing as we have recently let Rob go at his request there is room for more staff. Rob actually cleaned up quite a bit (if not most of the forum). I have had a few people in mind who i would like on board but its soley upto them. i will PM each of you privtely. They are who I would like to see on board but its whether they have the time and will to help. I feel each would bring some good expertise in not only the technical area but in organising meets/events.

Events:
Andy (Mr GTiR) requested a while ago that someone else take over organising the events but to be honest there are very few out there with his kind of contacts. Andy if you can find someone then we will gladly look at taking them on.. Saddler may be a good choice here as he is already making good headway with the Anniversary Meet.

Meets:
Now there are mixed views on this one. We've tried getting people together for annual meets. We even paid for a track day. It looked great at first. So many potential attendees. But when it came down to it, only 5 or so managed to turn up. I have always been one too want a new marquee (we even have one designed and priced ready to go) and banners etc.. But there is no point when no one turns up to events.. Another option is to spend more money on material items for the members.. This is something that needs to be looked at further..

The forum has never been the same as it used to be years ago when I first joined up when I had my Sunny GTi & then moved onto one of Fire&Skill's many GTiR's from his collection

There has always been a problem with getting people to go to meets over the years, people put there name down & then pull out leaving the numbers low & most of the time not worth holding the event. Even though I don't have my R anymore I would still happily come along to an R meet to catch up with the old members that I know. With the lack of support from the member I think the Rep organizers get a bit fed up after a while when no one can be arsed coming along.

Events could even be merged with other clubs, primarily Nissan but then can go with other forums. The SIDC had a Scooby vs Evo RR day at the end of last year at Wallace Performance which was a really good day. The best event in my time was the 2006 JAE, the OC had a semi decent stand but we where out done by the Modifiers site.

As for banners etc, did we ever bother get one made from years back when it was suggested?

If new staff aren't introduce to help bring the club forward it will be left well behind the rest & would be bad to see that happen to what was once a good forum.

Why not merging with the modifiers site if the numbers look low? Or is that forbidden?

I dont see why they shouldnt merge for meets etc as it would help with numbers are low but in the past some people didnt get along.

we could try expanding the club out, we could include a dedicated section for members other car build ups. also the addition of other nissan performance cars like s14s GTRs etc could help increase the clubs members. but then this is the GTiR owners club  .

we could also try having a RR day 'challenge' between the evo/subaru/gtir owners.

There's no reason not to merge for meets, they're a decent bunch of people for the most part, and I bought my car off one of their members.

Interestingly one of the people who slated the modifiers the most was Rob, who in the end signed up on that site anyway. Fucks sake, there's hardly any of our cars around anymore, so if joining forces means we stand a better chance of getting numbers out, then why not.

Yup I am aware of that, it doesnt however answer any of the questions that people new to GTi-R ownership seem to love to ask over and over.

Also, merge meets are great aslong as people turn up. If it were to happen in the current sitaution no one would bother turning up from the GTIROC or indeed only a handful would which looks terrible for the club itself.

If you check out the Sections under 'Learn' on the main portal page you will find the answers to all commonly asked questions. ;-)

e.g.

It carries all your part numbers, which oil answers, tech articles, etc...

Find one you think needs to be added or thats missing and i'll gladly add it in..

Ross (AJ4) put quite a lot of time and effort into it all but some forget its even there..

I think he only went on to try & sell parts to be honest.

The modifiers are all ex OC members when the site became a paid site & caused a load of hassle.

there is a lot of valid points here.
but for me, who has'nt got the cleanest of r's, i think lookin through the members section looking as some real nice cars with nice spec's then look at mine that could do with a few quid being spent on it, i personally feel ( poss others) that if i did turn up to shows/ meets would feel a bit embarressed with the shit box i'v got! ( im now spending all the cash i can get to have my car up to scratch for jts)

on the banter level, i'v been on loads of forums through the years ( not just oc's) an the piss takin has always been taken in good spirit, maybe the people on them were a lot younger, or possibly because this is a oc the members are a bit more serious, or possibly people taking the answers the wrong way.
