As lakeview said, some authorities thrown in the dangerous driving charge automatically; seems like it's complete bullshit, and just designed to threaten/scare.
There's no reason for a custodial sentence unless someone has been killed or injured, but I'm cynical about the justice system as I've seen the courts "making an example".

I'll try to stop being the prophet of doom now.

it was in a 70mph zone quiet motorway good conditions dry road etc.
there is no 3 figure automatic ban
definitely no custodial sentence thats ridiculous
im charged with speeding nothing else

Lucky you were in the uk, they are hammering down on speeding now in the south as they can easily target people on some roads by me....Scotland have a over 108mph instant dangerous driving thing now, been reading up on it lately as people are being prosecuted for it up there, and dangerous driving is custodial up there too, down here they don't tend to do the dangerous driving thing unless you are actually dangerous.
