Still haven't done it yet. I'm off to Spain tomorrow with her indoors and the brats. Weather permitting i'll do it when i get back and tie this loose end up. I usually drive it once every 2 weeks or so. It's been just over a month so I'm starting to get withdrawal symptoms.

I have managed to crack the alloy on what I’d call the thermostat housing. The thing that covers the thermostat that has 3 bolt holes on it. Can’t find one online so I’m assuming it’s not called a thermostat housing. What is the correct name?

After reading posts from Andy and Bobby, I’m now convinced that my pulsar has been getting hot due to the thermostat. I’ve had the housing successfully welded thank god. I think this Mishmoto thermostat is not quite right hence the disaster. Anyway, I have a standard one on the way so I’ll compare. No need for the help now you miserable gits! I think the car is going to be ok. Famous last words.

after changing the thermostat and attempting to get the air locks out, it STILL gets hot. Went for a cruise and after 40 minutes it started to creep. It may still have an air lock. It doesn’t get hot to the point it’s hitting the H on the temp gauge but then it seems to sort itself out and the temp drops like a stone, only to get hot again.

Another note worthy observation is the coolant is rusty. Due to the previous owners poor maintenance. Which I know can cause overheating so I think a mega flush out is in order too.

My last chance saloon is getting a new rad cap but I think that’s reaching. It’s worth a try as it they only cost pennies. Can anyone tell me what the correct one to get is please?

I’d just like to add, the mishmoto thermostat I got didn’t fit very well as it’s really for an S15 even though it’s advertised as fitting the RN114
