Engine rebuild

Hi,
Think I will start to rebuild my spare engine? Hope to get 350-400bhp at the end?
A few questions!!
1, What size of pistons to go for? If its standard pistons that's in it what size to go to? Are CP's ok?
2, Is there any need to buy rods?
3, How do you check the bearings and shells are ok? If ok would I still be best to change them?
4, New timing chain and guide?
5, Fit new water pump.
6, Fit new oil pump.
7, Best head gasket?
8, Change cams?
8, Head work? Gas flowed? Agra? Prices?
9, Best to get things balanced? Agra? Prices?
10, Change all seals and gaskets.
11, 3071 turbo? What like are these to spool up as I use the car for hill climbs and sprints?
12, Stock manifold or 4 branch?
13, chain tensioner
14, ARP bolts
15, New hoses for back of block

Anything else?

Thanks for any help.
Cheers
Stuart

Hi Stu.

You can run 400 bhp on the standard cams, CP pistons are OK and no you wont really need rods for that thought of power, But you should buy ARP rod bolts.

I don't think you really need to get the head gas flowed/ported either, But it's around £500 I think, Bearing I'd never re use them and you can use either standard Nissan bearing or Race bearings, Agra can supply both.

Head gasket I'd use either an HKS or tomie gasket.

Stock manifold will be fine ,as will the cams /not to sure on the turbo ,if you are only after 350/400 maybe a 2835 spools up real quick and will get you power figures

I'm doing mine in 3 months and so far I am changing this:

CP pistons 87mm (86mm is stock)
ARP head studs
ARP conrod bolts
Crank bearings
Conrod bearings
Cometic head gasket
New seals/gaskets all around (including valve seals)
Oil pump
Water pump
Z32 MAF
SARD 265L/h fuel pump
Nismo fuel pressure regulator
Timing chain + tensioner
Clutch fork + spring
ACT 6 puck sprung clutch kit

Thats the grocery list so far
