drivetrain shunt?

i sometimes experience drivetrain shunt whilst coming on and off the accelerator say coasting in 2nd or third in slow moving traffic , push fun pedal down and the car seems to lunge , also coming off gas it can be very well ..not smooth ..is this common ? can it be rectified ? it almost feels as if there s play in the prop shaft ... cheers in advance

Do you mean you get abit of a clunk as it engages forward motion? I used to get this in another car which was explained when the diff broke in that case.

Have you actualy got under the car and checked for any play anywhere?
This could confirm your thoughts or pinpoint a problem somewhere else.

I'd get it on the ramp and check for play on the bushes and engine mounts

Check the anti torque mountings back of box and at front near the turbo, as well as the the other 3
