Drivetrain Problem

After not driving my car for a week, i drove it yesterday and noticed like a small clunking noise on the front of the car whilst the car is in motion. can only hear them when going slowly, not fast. Either going straight or in reverse. either in gear or not, but its easier to hear it in neutral and rolling slowly

I got the feeling it might be the gearbox, or either front or centre diff. it couldn't be CV joints as it does it when going straight, and we had it up on the hiost and it wouldn't make the noise. Took my mechanic for a drive and he said it doesn't sound like bearings or CV joints, he said it sounded more like loose gears clunking.

Has anyone else had this type of problem?

The fact that its still doing it in neutral, that means that its
nothing engine related, but more drivetrain, wouldn't it?

And like i said it didnt do it on the hoist, only on the road, so
its when the drivetrain encounters resistance that it does it.
Mechanic said it could be uni join in the tail-shaft. Anyone had a
uni joint go, or what do they sound like when they go bust?

Any help from anyone who has had drivetrain problems would be really
appreciated.

Its funny though, i dont launch, thrash my car. And it didnt do it
before, left it for about a week, and boom its doing it now. Weird

ok, will have a closer look, but i jacked up the front of the car yesterday and tested both wheels, and there was no play in there.

drivetrain noise

what type of tyres do you have, sometime when sitting they get a flat spot on them. only really happens on soft competion tyres.
