anyone got an opinion on wether removing the cat actually makes a difference? after i removed the one on my first R - on inspection i was surprised to see that it wasnt actually all that obstructive :?

i went to a lot of bother to get the decat pipe and once i'd fitted it i didnt get the expected 'extra performance' if anything it felt exactly the same as having the cat :(

im sure theres peeps who swear by removing it, i supose you cant use racing fuel with the cat or some octane boosters. but keeping the cat on also keeps you legal.

so is it best to take it off?

I'm sure you can legally remove the de-cat if the car was made before 1992 ! so H and J reg cars should be able to pull it off. De cats DO make a difference, its not THAT noticeable but when you start getting more power it helps even more, you need all the flow you can get, coz the exhaust already has a massive restriction in it called a turbo :D
