CV Boot - HELP!!!

Hello

Is there an easy way to get an outer CV boot over the joint and onto the driveshaft. I've got some cone shaped tool from work to stretch the boot over but it doesn't look like the small end of the boot will go over in a million years. It's in hot water trying to soften it up at the moment. Is there anything genius I'm missing with it at the moment?????

Warm water usually works but to use the cone, you usually have to have a 'duraboot' stretchy boot otherwise its a right pain. Failing that, just remove the cv joint from the driveshaft.....its a lot easier and you won't risk ripping the boot.

remove the old boot, get a hammer (pref copper hammer) and holding the joint in-line with the driveshaft, knock the joint off the shaft (it shouldn't need much of a hit).

do the opposite when replacing the joint, make sure that you have them in-line as they will go together easier and make sure that the inner part is lined up correctly on the shaft.

when replacing the joint use a copper or hide hammer as you will damage the threads on the shaft.

If you're using Nissan cv boots make sure you have put the small clip on the shaft first.
