clutch slave cylinder!

was driving into work this morning in traffic and the clutch went 'funny' I noticed there was too much free play on the top, and then when I went to clutch it just went to the floor with no resistance!
I managed to take it out of gear and push her onto the centre margin (yeah! I was in the fast lane as usual  )
so out I get armed with my bottle of clutch fluid,
refill the reservoir and push the clutch in and that empties the reservoir again :x
it looks like the seals on the slave cylinder have given up!
so after waiting about 30 minutes for the traffic to ease, I proceed to drive her home about 10 miles without a clutch!

got intouch with Nissan already and have a new one ordered, at €95
but I am also trying to source a spurious one at the mo, cos nissan wont have it in until monday/tuesday! :(

anyway,
it looks pretty straight forward to change!
do any of you guys have a rough 'how to?'
at least I haven't gone to work yet though!

the right section would help get it fixed quicker  :p

same thing happened to mine, seal had split so it wouldnt seal and just p*ssed the fluid out when you put your fut on the pedal.
easy enough to refit but a bit of a pain to bleed it, you will need 2 people.

You can buy a service kit, you get the seals and piston for about £20

NO do not get the service kit!!!!
It's about £4 for the slave cylinder BUT youve got to realise the seal mustve split for a reason, on mine the piston wasnt pushing straight and when i dissaembled the slave cylinder i noticed it had damaged inside and even with new seal it wuld obviously go again soon.
It isnt worth the hassl using a new seal kit

Plus there is no point in putting new seals and piston in unless you hone the cylinder out first (not everyone has a honing tool lying around). I did it on another car without honing it first and it just carried on leaking.
