Clutch Pedal Resistance

Yesterday I decided to take the R out for a spin and noticed that after the biting point on my clutch, the pedal is rediculously hard to push any further, requiring almost all my strength.

It's never done this before and I find it very odd. The car still drives perfectly, all gears select fine and there's no whining, crunching or grinding. I checked the pedal for any blockages (I know - but it can happen!) and found nothing, the fluids are topped up and I can't see anything in the way of the fork in the engine bay. I suspect maybe the servo?

Anyone got an idea?

Cheers.

Right - further inspection has revealed that the selector fork is pressing up against the bell housing. I suspect that it is bent (best case) or that perhaps the clutch diaphragm has given way (worst case). So today I began the pain in the arse job of dropping the gearbox (engine in situ). Never done this before so should be interesting, progress pics and writeup in Members R' section!
