Car won't start, whining noise from fuel rail (maybe not related)

Is there a troubleshooting procedure entitled "Car hard to start when cold"? - I'd go through that one.

Oh also, once the car has started (when cold) if I press the throttle lightly or hard, the revs go down and the engine comes close to a stall, but after about 5-10 seconds its ok

I found that when the revs fell and stalled the engine on mine it was because the fuel pressure had fallen too low.Similarly when its too high the revs rise.

Have you ever had the injectors cleaned?
