Its still a cheaper charger....and if the battery dies it will invalidate the Garantee.
If you use the recomended battery charger you can then make a claim easyer.
Saying that the Optimate does look a good bit of kit though. Infact the spec is very simular to the DMS unit. Probably will do the job no with problems, but Ill stay with the recomended unit for the reason above.

Used that company to buy the Varta badboy battery as mine seems to have been dying for a while now, amazing service, ordered 5 in the evening, received the next morning!!! great battery too. Plenty of grunt, really notice the cranking power difference from the obviously crap battery I had before.

I have used Varta in the past and found them a great battery for a road car. Just a bit heavy for racing.
