to my supprise he let me off and gave me the option to do one of those AA Driving course things for £72 instead of the 3 points and £60 fine. . Still supprised he let me off.

Let you off how? If you had to do one of those courses then he's still fined you. You haven't driven off without a financial penalty, points or not. Also it's up to £2000 per tyre I think.

It just proves to me that they're out to make money and not that bothered about safety.

Id rather pay £75 for a course than get £60 + 3 points then a further 3 points for the tyre and god knows what fine lol.
But yes you are right, i still had to pay something i just thought id mention it as it's the first time the police have been decent to me.
The course I went on was another story.... lol
