Right, fittedme Brembo discs (standard size uprated replacements) and found I've lost about an inch and a half of braking surface. Me old man turned round and said, basically, can U not get a bigger caliper.

So I was wondering is there anything else in the Nissan range that I could nick a caliper off?

Or do U have any ideas

Moneys tight

he's got a point,

since when did you need uprated brakes for pulling the car out the garage polishing it then putting it away again.

your mams here with me :p
laughing at you right now.

if you remeber jock's car, that had 300zx brakes on the front, although they didnt go on without a bit of modifying first, still gonna be cheaper than any of the Ap's wilwoods etc.

I liked Ant's response, the kid thinks money grows on trees. No wonder he's in bloody debt

Me ol man said he would make them fit. Its just that I've lost a bit of breakin area and me ol man said he'd have a go at makin the standard set up a bit better

Having no tax, insurance, mot and declared SORN, makes it a little hard, but they feel much better than they did but need to bed them in and then get them warm. It was just a suggestion he made. And to have me dad asking to do stuff to this car is a first!!!! So I ain't complaining

true,

personally i think any uprated disc isnt going to be a great deal better than std, its the calipers that are to55, along with the other parts,
you've spent the money now tho, i'd imagine if you spoke to steve he'd be more than happy to point you in the right direction then you and yer old man can do the work.

How can you lose an inch and half of braking surface if the discs are the same size?? :?

I didn't word it correctly  I meant when me ol man changed the Brakes he noticed how crap the standard calipers were. Something our local R specialist also told me. The pads could be more effective against the disc. And a bigger caliper would allow for a different pad to cover more of the disc, even standard size discs. i.e theres a lot of 'wasted' disc area. I've uprated my discs to Brembos, stuck Mintex 1144's in with braided hoses but although the braking effeiciency and performance with be vastly improved the old 'system' will still be in place.

If you put more pad on the disc though,it'll get the disc hotter, quicker and increase chance of fade and warping.Bigger discs and calipers is way to go when your budget allows it.
