Well I've given up , it's defeated me, I going to break my '91 GTI-R
affectionately known as the B*##tard, this car has taught me the true meaning of profanity I could now be in the Olympic swearing team. So it will be going to the big scrappy in the sky, and not before time to, never have I worked on a more unreliable, awkward, nasty car and I also own a TVR so I know all about poor reliability and build quality this heap of a Nissan is in a different league!!!
If anyone wants a tidy shell so the horrible thing can live on let me know otherwise I’ll actually be glad to see it go in the crusher. I’ll be posting items for sale as soon as I can post in the for sale section.

they need at least a 5k budget to get it up to good spec.

so many times, so many times, have people bought cars like these and been shocked at what it takes to keep them maintained. people just dont read up before they buy them. its a rally car for the road at the end of the day.
ive had two new engines and a rebuild. numerous turbos and clutches, you name it. but i drive it hard on the track. just gotta shrug your shoulders and fix it.

Some of the earlier posts are quite right I did buy a sh*ter, non runner, hoping it would be an easy fix, it proved more difficult than I expected and simply put it wasn't worth the time ,effort and money required to get up back to it's best, the price of this type of cars as plumeted in recent months and it was always my intention to fix it up run it a while then sell it on, making massive profit wasn't the intention I just didn't want to loose a fortune either.
When I bought the Pulsar I fully realised it is a specialist car that needs specialist treatment, however what I didn't realise was how bad the cars can become when previous owners try to run them like a std Sunny (ie no maintence at all!!). I'd assumed it would be very much like a 4x4 SX but the SX is less complicated and seems to solider on through any amount of abuse, sadly this not the case with the GTi-R which needs consant TLC in order for it to keep giving it's best. So I salute the serious owners who keep their cars in tip top condition, and hope more cars find dedicated owners because judging by the amount been broken for spares there'll soon be none left .
Also re weight according to the MOT braking chart the GTi-r weighs nearly 1400kg (the std sunny is around 1200Kg) so it's not a lightweight, but I agree that you'd struggle to find a better/faster 4x4 for around £3K, a sum which would buy a really nice car not the lemon I saddled myself with.

1400kg! there supposed to be 1220kg,
that's what I thought, but we are talking about VOSA here, so the chart may not be to accurate  or I may have just read it wrong ;-)
everywhere else does indeed say 1220kg
