i think you are better off with KOYO Radiator
Yes a Koyo is about 53mm thick and you can get one for about £230~250

before you ask its the R1977

Have a look at absolute radiators in the states, specifically the double thickness copper core rad. It's a direct fit, twice as thick as the OE rad so, at least twice as efficient and can be had for around £150 delivered.

You'll faff around trying to fit the Koyo and similar rads and, they're probably overkill for what you want.

Doesn't copper "rust" (turn green?) so would need cleaning more often?
Only ferrite derived metals rust. Like iron and steel. Copper and aluminium will both oxidise (copper turns green and aluminium goes white and crusty).
This isn't an issue though as, the rad is copper 'cored' not fully copper. It will have aluminium fins and out casing etc.. like any rad does. They use copper for it's heat conduction properties, the same as they use aluminium. It's just that aluminium is a better heat conductor than copper but, it's also more expensive.

The absolute radiators copper cored rad will be more than enough for a road going and track day GTiR. As said, it will be at least twice as efficient as the OE rad. This will give you added reliabilty but, won't be overkill casing you issues in the winter when the car won't get up to temp.
