As has been said, what did you expect for £1500?

£2500 wont get you a minter either, well not one with lot's of modifications anyway.
I've seen loads of decent pulsars go for anything between 2500 - 3500 where I'm sure if you haggle, you could get a bargain

I don't see expensive extras, which would explain the price.................. does it still have a standard engine and box ?

you won't get a mint R with all the right mods for 3500, more like 4000 - 5000.

I've just had a quick look at pistonheads and the average price there is about 3k. Basically you've bought a project car, which for £1500 is about right. You haven't mentioned anything about the turbo, but I'll bet it was running 1bar in which case it was probably making about 270 bhp. To get another car like that with a similar spec and no rust will easily be 3k+. however you could buy one for cheaper which had rust. If I was you I'd get a rolling shell and swap all the parts over. If the engine and mechanicals are fine then for another £700 you'll have a decent car, coupled with the satisfaction that you've done it yourself. As long as the shells solid you can sort any minor niggles at a later date.

Is it an easy job to re shell??
Jon old has put his shell up on the site again but unsure to go ahead and start the re shelling dilemma because mine is a k reg and olds Is a H reg.
Also my 1st and 2nd gears don't work.
I know I've really landed my self in sh_t

The engine is standard with very good oil pressure, the turbo has been updated to a roller bb

well I went back to see him last night, he is going to do both sides now, replacing the N/S/R arch, realigning all the panels. he is sorting out any rust and small dents etc on both sides, it will be baked off in the booth and its £1800. he usually does work for ferrari and maserati, his work is top notch. 6 days labour he says

It's quite easy to reshell if you but something like john old's one as 80% of the car is there already,h or k makes no odd's to you as you will use the shell's i.d that you build up not the scrap one, and your gearbox need's a rebuild/looking at, (£450 exchange unit from myself).

You have'nt landed yourself in the shism, you are just going to have to do some work which will regain you more than you have outlaid.(as long as you do the work yourself)

So you're saying if I transfer all my bits onthe h reg it will get converted to a k will it.
It's really confusing to me.
Point me in the right direction plz

the registration is for the shell, doesnt matter what engine etc you put in the shell will still retain the reg it had before. just swao all the good bits off your car onto a good shell.

I'll see a few mechanics after the new year to find out how much it will cost to transfer all the bits over.

I don't understand people re-shelling unless it's total gone, id rather hand it into a body shop an let them sort it an then have a decent car than to swap shells.

To many people buy these for cheap see rust crap them selfs then break car , total waste

Well you ust have to work out which is cheapest. If your car is a total rust bucket then its prob not worth repairing. If its only superficial stuff then it is.I wouldn't pay someone to swap it all over though as it takes too long and will cost a packet. If you have time to do it yourself at weekends then bobs your uncle.
It also depends on what someones idea of a shell is.If it comes with all the interior still in and even better the suspension and brakes then you only really need to swap the engine and gearbox which a garage can do in a day for £250-400.

rather than brake it and scraping the shell if you can not do it list it for sale as a project. not sure you will get what you paid but even if you take a small loss might be better than spending or paying someone a fortune. but if your gear box is not 100% its not as if you could advertise it as good engin and box

Ok guys decision has been made:::
Will be repairing the bodywork as I went to see a couple of r's today for sale which are all in need of some sort of tlc, but with less extras than mine.
So even if my heap of metal stands me at 3k for a 93 k reg in more or less mint condition is worth it!
