Website Updates

Hi All,

As you all know, the site was hacked a few weeks ago. It was an error in the Vbulletin code which allowed hackers to get in and happened to many sites around the world.

This has been fixed now so we will be able to get the site back up fully over the next few weeks.

We have some big plans for the site over the next few months so if you have any suggestions or things that you would find useful then please feel free to ask and we will see if we can implement these for you.

Also, If there is anything you have found not working correctly then please let us know in case we have missed something.

Just so you know -

I am currently in the process of giving the site a major overhaul.

Step 1 is to fix the problems
Step 2 is to redesign site to simplicity with a modern feel
Step 3 is to integrate site with Facebook

Attachments and photo's are definitely playing up, also, the facebook integration, how will that affect people who don't have/want it, as without it you can't view stuff on there, will it affect viewing stuff on the forum ?

Thanks. In theory, messages made in certain forums will appear automatically on the facebook gtiroc group and vice versa. This should attract more international people too. You wont have to be a member of facebook to use the forum. The facebook icon at the top of the page integrates your account with facebook if you want to use it. It certainly makes things easier for members and I will be transferring mine soon too

Good stuff, never have and never will join facebook, didn't want to be ostracised on the forum because of it though. Probably sounds like a whinge (promise it's not Haha), but genuine question here, why are we intergrating with facebook, what benefits are there, isn't it basically just a forum, post a photo, people write an opinion, what this is ?

its just a way of bringing gtir owners around the world closer together and will hopefully make the site busier.

That's ok Andy, you will be able to choose not to and it will only be in selected forums.

I'm trying to bring more people to the site from Facebook, not to facebook.

Once I have tested it I will know exactly how it works so will be able to explain better.

I appreciate not everyone likes Facebook so no need to panic.

Is there any way of making it easier too post pictures and links? Just iv never put up pictures as my comp skills are crap and dont have the account on other site to upload them. It would be great if it was similar too facebook in the way you click upload pic say on yer iphone/samsumg and select picture and up it goes? Guessing its not easy to impliment that? But i also would not link this forum too facebook

Not that I know of but will look into. It may be possible to add to gtiroc on Facebook and copy link. I will look into it

That should work as long as the pictures on Facebook are visible to everyone, or at least "friends of friends"?
