Sr21det

Finally feel positive about the R again. I want to check with my engine builder on the supertech rings used but assuming it's standard Nissan dimensions I already have 87.5mm rings available. This would make the cost of the pistons, new HG and shipping £350 before tax! 10 years ago when I last did the rebuild that cost double.

People were just shafted years ago , you only truly learn by actually doing research and trying it....and I have done loads of research in physical and paper

Agreed. Don't suppose you know if the 87.5mm supertech pistons use the rings from the 2.2 Nissan stoker with 87.5mm rings?

No idea...there is 4 different stroker kits as well, bc,tomei, farndon and one I always forget."they are all different.

All the 2.2 'stroker' kits i've seen get there by way of 91mm crank and 87mm piston, never seen an 87.5mm set. You can also use/fit 200sx stroker kits, hks, toda etc, the 17mm v's 19mm rod is a null point if using a quality rod. Supertech seem quite big in the states, priced well too, never knew they made pistons though, anybody used them yet ?

Just had a quick look at the Tomei stroker kit, there is an option for 87.5mm rings, it also states that the rnn14 specific kits flywheel will need modifying, so i'd bet my left nut it's the same crank used for all the sr20det variants.

Just been playing with the shopping cart on FRS, extra £34 for the rings with the pistons so going to forget about saving money at that cost.

Anyone got any reviews on the supertechs before I waste more money on the shed in the garage?

91 or 92 mm crank , some are cast and machined and some are billet, sr20 variants use the same width rod just different width bearings, and some kits use standard lenth rods others use shorter rods

JWT were even working on a 95mm at one point apparently ? HKS one's forged and nitrate coated, not sure on the others, which kits have the shorter rods Dan, and what lengths ?

Farndon uses shorter rods, will have to measure them but you can use standard pin to deck height piston with bigger reliefs for the oil jets under piston, 95mm crank....would need to have big reliefs on the liners for the rods to miss....or just a larger bore.

Thanks Dan, have you found the Farndon stuff to be identical to JUN, i heard they make JUN's pistons etc, unsure if they're to the same specs though ? Would be good to know if any others are shorter if you get a chance, have you found any to be longer ?

Farndon don't make pistons, they make cranks, conrods and the like but not pistons.

None look to be identical, but then it's minor differences so they could still be machined in the same places, rod wise I have found none any longer than stock only shorter
