Most guys seem to run either a gt2871r or gt3071r. But the new gtx2863 or 67 look tempting, expensive though. Depends on what you want more. Power or response.

Im after both power and response but if had to choose power. Is the a web site where I would be able to check out these turbos

May be worth having a chat with Owen Developments, they do some pretty nice turbo mods and seem to know their stuff. Ed at Fusion Motorsport has a long history of tuning and building Pulsars (he owns one). May be worth getting in touch with him. Think he's away at the moment. I'm planning to take my car to see Ed for a Nistune board, fitting and mapping, when I scrape the pennies together. All in it's likely to cost less than a power FC.

The bloke by mine in group b motorsports said get uprated walbro fuel pump nismo 600cc injectors the power fc ecu plus the uprated turbo then take it back to him he will rolling road it and map it at the same time? Will have a look at owen developments mate

Fuel pump is a must if you're on the original. Systec/Walbro off ebay does unless you want big power, easy to fit, there are good threads on here about it. Injectors- pretty well any nissan/ evo top feed does, size them for the power you want, there is a thread on GTIR modifiers club about power and flow rate. 700ish injectors are a good compromise apparently, I picked up some 720 Denso's for around £150, serviced with flow sheet. FC's are a bit old hat for Nissans, in my opinion. Others may have other views. I'm going for a Nistune because I can't shell out for a syvecs/ omex/ motec etc and they offer good tuning capability for little outlay. Some guys have run 500bhp on nistune with a gt3076. I'm going to fit a z32 maf and injectors and send the ecu off to have the board fitted and base map loaded, then drive the car up for rolling road mapping and fault finding. Mapping, board, rr and fitting is under £600 I think. I'm going to be saving for the turbo and sorting out any faults after that. Then putting some pennies away for when the gearbox explodes......

I've heard that the standard rod bolts can become an issue around 350bhp, if you're looking at a bigger turbo and 600cc injectors I assume you have a bigger maf (standard maf maxes around 330= before the standard turbo or injectors, if you increase fuel pressure) and will be at or beyond that when mapped. Worth thinking about. ARP's are the upgrade rod bolts for most.

£1760 with the ceramic coating and stainless steel heat shield and bronze bearing cages.

Yeah I figured something around there. I'm not jealous- much. If money was not an obstacle and I managed to be sensible I'd get the same.

I could only afford it due to my divorce and house sale, I couldn't get a mortgage due to not having a full time job even though I earn enough to pay one, So I did what I've wanted to do for ages and get myself another pulsar and build it just the way I wanted but it has been expensive, At the end of it hopefully I'll have one of the best in the country once it's finished.

That makes more sense. I suppose they see load when decelerating the piston/ rod at the top of the compression/ exhaust stroke. What kind of RPM do you think they become suspect?
More likely the exhaust stroke when the valves are open and they don't have any compression pushing down on them like they do on the compression stroke.

Good point. Probably help, don't know if normal gas compression (150-180psi) is enough to stop the piston though. It's a fair lump moving pretty fast. The question still stands though, at what rpm are rod bolts suspect? My old engine used to see 8k+ on a fairly regular basis. It was the ringlands, crank and bearings that failed. Oil turned to chocolate due to excessive blowby and lunched the bearings. Det due to a whofully bad setup did for the ringlands and I think I cracked the crank running on 3 cylinders. The rods seemed ok.
