Depends on what your preference is, but I personally dont like the feel of a too soft sidewall

I have racing slicks in the garage for track use, a set of AO48's to use up on track also, however I'm wanting an all rounder that will work in cold wet conditions as well as dry when I'm out and about on the road - I'm looking the best possible all rounder.
I have considered semi slicks, however I can't justify buying/using semi slick tyres for road use.
The AO48's in the wet are not confidence inspiring nor are they in cold conditions and especially when its freezing.

But i havent tried bridgestones. Dunlops i always feel are a bit hard.
Ive had avons before that impressed me in the wet. Funnily enough i think they were called rainsports or something close.

I've got 3 sets of wheels. I use Pirelli RS7 tarmac rally tyres for track/airfield days, soft compound R888's for racing (and probably more road miles than necessary as i can never be bothered to change them ) and Continental sport contact 3 for road use.
The Continentals are expensive but rather than only being good in certain conditions like a lot of tyres they're good all rounders.

225/625/17's. Apart from touching the plastic splash guards in a couple places I've had no issues with rubbing anywhere. Thats with 7x17 ET38 wheels and a 5mm spacer.
I did have a good source of them as somebody i know had an Evo 9 rally car but he's changed it for an Evo 10 now which has 18's :roll: Still got a couple sets left though for when these are worn out.
Harkness tyres are worth a try and there's another good one but i cant remember the name at the moment
I've had the same with my car on 225's, but the side walls were much bigger so it was worse.
