Opinions on engine spec please people?

I have a super clean car finally, in the colour I wanted and am super happy! The car is modycoddled and will never be anything but a road car never likely to see a track either. Anyway my theoretical engine rebuild would be a car with circa 300ft/lb and I want it at 2000rpm and a flat tourqe curve from there. The TTrs engine delivers 330+ at 1700rpm with an extra 500cc and a borg warner I know, but any suggestions please clever people!!!

Ditch the turbo and bolt on a whipple supercharger.
I'm not sure if you'll get that torque without rebuilding a high compression engine running lower boost.

Good luck, the 2.5 TSFI has a CGI block, direct fuel injection, variable valve timing and a static compression ratio of 10:1. It'll take some serious re-engineering to make a 10 year old SR20DET perform like that, well outside the scope of a normal rebuild.

What sort of power output would you be after? I could suggest a build that would easily hit your requirements but would feel restricted at the top end and limit top end power.

Thanks for the comments lads, I have no real need for top end as will only ever see road use. I just would like a very responsive low to mid responsive car to blast around the twisty hills I enjoy at weekends on the rare outings the car sees.

Ok then, what are your ideas for best response given I dont rev beyond 6500rpm 95% of the time, (I have no intrest in gas or charger)

High compression, advanced cam timing, ported and polished exhaust ports, 5 angle valve job, small hybrid turbo on custom made manifold with small primarys to keep gas speed high, have crank massively lightened, aluminium flywheel,

I have gone for bottom end like your asking and very happy with my results so far. I went with the Turbine tech manifold from Canada with a custom Evo turbo. My engine builder has also set the cam timing to help it come on sooner as well as porting the head. I haven't got the dyno sheet yet but my tuner said its coming on very hard very early and has great drivability

If you want a lot of torque lower down the rev range you either want a small turbo and lots of boost or a stroker engine.

Nah! lol. He just seems to want the spec of a diesel engine from a petrol engine. I never understand why people want mid range torque so badly. Stop being lazy and use the gears. It's got a redline, use it.;-) I once tried changing at 7000rpm instead of 7500rpm on the strip and it was slower over the 1/4, so I'm guessing 6500 will be slower still.

Plus I've been in Dave's diesel and it pulls like hell.

That sounds like a comment from somebody that hasn't got any

I know what you mean about modern diesels though, my mate has got a 335d with a remap and its over 500ft/lbs
