Hi everyone, went on the rollers at the weekend made 240hp. the car is quite standard-
Front mount
Walbro
Kn filter
1 bar boost.
Nistune.
The exhaust is totally standard (my first R was to loud with goose,I'm getting old). So question is how much gain is to be REALLY expected from exhaust and elbow, anyone got before and after RR figures. The car was rich, I know that robs alot (10.8 ish) but I just want a quite reliable car. Thoughts please guys!!!!

Is the 10.8 the air/fuel ratio? If so theres no need to go that rich

Don't worry about the elbow too much but the standard exhaust will be restricting it, with a better exhaust and some decent mapping you'd probably get around 280bhp at least. Scorpion systems are fairly quiet if you don't like noise ;-)

Welcome to the Club..

With a full exhaust system and the supporting Mods above... you should be 260 easily.. poss more to 280+ Bhp

Elbow is the main restriction for certain,
change the exhaust system to allow it to breathe and flow the gases much quicker. Put a very quiet Back Box on.

would be nice to see your car pics and the RR Graph,

Thanks for the feed back lads, I dont have the graph to hand will post it tomorrow when i get back to the car. I would like to keep the standard exhaust but if it is that bad!! The rr operator was of the opinion that it was Very restrictive , like I stated before is there any real figures from rr comparision between standard and aftermarket pipe.I do realise that a remap will have to be done to maximise current set up but it held boost really well to the end.

yeah man.. looks nice on steelies and without the bonnet vents
Thanks for that, I'm trying to own a sunny without the usual attention. my last red one with goose etc got me all the wrong attention. Like I said getting old now just wnat the enjoyment not the rest.

Try to find a scorpion exhaust, nice and quiet but with the other mods on a good healthy car at 14.7psi boost you will see circa 280bhp, the exhaust and cat converter are the restriction's.

Nice looking car btw.

The downpipe and pea-shooter standard size system are just as bad as a cat, also if the car has old leads, dizzy cap, rotor arm and plugs change them, and fit a Bosch 044 fuel pump.

Right my old car was 217 standard and then with scorpion exhaust and apex I air filter it made 264, and then with front mount,Bosch 044 and 13psi boost made 282, and then with 21psi boost made 300.

Thanks for come the back fella, that power increase with induction and exhaust is simply incredible, the exhaust is going in the bin!! Whats wrong with a walbro pump the pressure looked good on the graph??. Can't comment on leads and cap as haven't changed them but the cap looks good. the engine is lovely, the quietest head I've ever heard on one but only 50k miles.

Walbro is fine, didn't look to see you had a pump fitted,if the rotor arm, cap leads and plugs are old you will get missfires..maybe only small ... But it is power lost, plus you need to fit bcr8es NGK plugs as standard ones are too hot and will fail.
